Chance of Snow
First snow of the season
Our island world
Blanketed in gray
The winds off the sea
Buffet the weather against the windows
Swirling
Circling
A floating frenzy of flakes
Enough to dust our pathways white
Add texture to stoic evergreens
And even my Japanese maple
Who struggles to hold its autumn leaves.
It is a quiet place
Within this falling of snow.
