Whitehorse, YT to Dawson City, YT |
This may be the most scenic section of the entire river. The current is swift and the water runs relatively clear. We had entirely too much gear and provisions. We had to lighten up.
The river quickly gains roily waters and becomes brown. Just before Dawson the White River empties into the Yukon. The water is white with silt and ash.
Whitehorse, Hootalinqua, Big Salmon, Byers Camp, Carmacks, Five Finger Rapids, Pink Rapids, Fort Selkirk, Selwyn, Ogilvie and Dawson City were the topics of conversation and destination.
