Kotlik to Nome

This was the section of the trip that I was most excited about. I had been to several of the villages that we were to travel through when I coached basketball in Gambell. We had the river behind us and this was a whole new ball game. The boats had shown some wear but they appeared to be in good shape. We were to meet up with some new travelers. Toby Bill and Tony were flying in from Maryland and were to meet us in Nome. The red boat had been shipped in to Nome and the whole fleet would be together again. Further up the coast a college friend of mine was to meet us in Kotzebue and finish the journey into Barrow.

The three of us were tired but excited about what the sea would bring. The weather was more volatile on the coast and we ended up staying several days at each town. This accounts for having to break up the photos for this stretch into Norton Sound, Nome and Tin City. When the weather is down all there was to do was to take pictures it seemed.
