Rie and Frosty

Family

(Updated 05/10/2009)

The school year is winding down. The kids are excited and the days are getting longer. We need to get prepared for the BC camping trip.

The use of the web site Flickr that I have been using to host my pictures continues to be the easiest thing to do. The number of hits on this site has fallen but I think I will continue to use Flickr.

We had a good Mother's Day. The weather was good so we spent most of the day outside. We took a drive out the road to see if we could find the gray whale and her calf that have been hanging around. It us unusual for the gray whale to spend that much time here in southeast. We found them and were able to get a few gray whale pictures.

Rie watched for a moment or two and then move on to more pressing issues. That of picking every 'flower' within a quarter mile.

Spring around here usually starts with skunk cabbage peeking through the snow. Once it gets up it is kind of neat stuff. I found a patch the other day near Katlian Street. Sitka skunk cabbage.

Baseball started this weekend as well. Colony was in town as well as rival Juneau. The weather was awesome. Good baseball as well. Sitka Wolves Baseball.

Well before the skunk cabbage and before the baseball season began I hit a wall. Rie and I spent a couple of Saturdays playing around on the muskegs. I make no excuses for the following. Water bugs and fungus.

Here are some of the older style photos that are hosted on our server as opposed to on Flickr.

Northern Climes

The herring have finally spawned. The ocean is beginning to wake up. The boat is in the water and we are looking for openings in the weather to fish.
